Linda Smith worked with me both as a fitness trainer and rehab specialist in the area of Somatics. Within only a couple sessions the chronic hip pain from which I had been suffering was completely alleviated. Linda’s integration of fitness training and Hanna Somatic Education is unique to most fitness regimes. Somatics allows one to transition from pain to function to strength with ease. Linda has a caring heart, creative spirit and a dedication to being an expert in her field.
I used to walk 4 miles a day, but in the last couple years I could only walk 2 miles because of back and hip pain. I couldn’t walk in a straight line, I “wobbled”. Now after learning Hanna Somatic Education from Linda, and doing my movements faithfully, I can once again walk 4 miles a day, no longer “wobble” and I walk pain free!
Hanna Somatic Education has given me my life back. Seven years ago I had a L5-S1 spinal fusion, two years later I herniated my L4-L5 disk and was left in continuous back pain. I had done physical therapy, spinal injections and the doctors wanted to do more back surgery. I had given up hope of ever being able to enjoy my out door hobbies again. Three years ago I discovered Hanna Somatic Education and what a relief. I take a few minutes every morning to follow the Somatic movements Linda has taught me and it has helped me regain my flexibility, strength and enabled me to return to the activities I enjoy.
In a short time I have learned a lot and improved the physical quality of my life immeasurably. I have learned much about my body mechanics and become aware of how the body and brain interact and how to make them work for me without pain. Though I am in my eighties I have achieved a degree of flexibility that after years of abuse, I never thought possible. Becoming aware of how my body works has helped me to develop a much better golf swing after 40 years of doing it wrong. Linda’s relaxed and low key approach to Somatics produces high powered results.
I am indebted to Linda for ridding me of a persistent limp and a neuro-muscular problem both related to accidents. I took her 1 month Somatics workshop and learned movements to help me in everyday activities.
Linda has been my personal trainer for a year. In this time Linda has shown me how to relax my muscles and reduce pain from arthritis. I enjoy her professionalism and upbeat attitude. After a hard day of work the last thing I’ve wanted to do was workout. Linda has made this a painless process. I appreciate that she has educated me so I can use Somatic techniques on a daily basis.
